What is IT?
It that makes me sit in the dark
It that makes me depressed and feel sorrow
It that makes me wonder what's wrong
What's wrong with me, my life?

It that is so powerful
So damn powerful to drive a sane person insane
Make a confident person insecure
Make a caring person not give a damn

It that makes one do what one would not normally do
Make one drink ones self to destruction
Make one smoke who normally doesn't
Make one say things they don't believe in
Make one envious of another

It that forces us to be who we are not
Forces some to become liars, cheaters, thieves,
and murderers
Then when we realize what It has made us become
What It has done to our perception, our soul, our very being

It destroys
Destroys our rational thinking
Thinking the only way to get away from It
Is to destroy ourselves forever
For so many die
Others overcome It
But not for very long
The lucky, learn to cope with It

What is it that is so powerful, controlling, forceful,
and destructive?
It, that is or has been in everyone's life
It is Loneliness. -MM
