My ATV Sprayer

Built in 1996, the sprayer began life as a spot sprayer with a 20' boom,  electric pump, and a 110 gallon tank. With the adoption of Roundup Ready it was put into full time service. A new 38.5' boom was constructed (2 widths of our 15" bean planter), along with the addition of a Gas engine/pump combo, and a MT 3000 Sprayer controller. Since then it has gone through a few other changes, modifying the boom, and adding a dimmer switch for the run hold on the MT 3000.

The ATV pulling this unit is a 95 Polaris Sportsman 400. It is equipped with wheels manufactured by Bowman Manufacturing. With dimensions of 4" wide and 29 inches tall, They give the ATV a wider, taller stance. It can easily straddle 3 - 15" rows. As a little interjected opinion, I like the automatic for spraying because of the smooth starts. The liquid cooling is also a must. I have sprayed on days with temps in the 90's with no overheating, (except the operator).

We usually spray between 400 -500 acres of soybeans with it, along with fence rows and around the lot. We use a row shut off from Tru Count on the middle row of our bean planter to mark rows for spraying. By switching the clutch on for a few seconds at each end we leave a 20' blank to line up on.
